Originally from Barrio de la Cruz, Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca, Mexico, Osiris García Cerqueda has dedicated himself to the study of the history of the Mazatec people and sacred mushrooms. Author of the book Huautla, tierra de magia, de hongos... y hippies (2014) and promoter of the independent magazine Mirador Mazateco (2011-2014). He has participated in international congresses defending the vindication of traditional medicine, ancestral knowledge and Mazatec territory (MAPS, Denver, 2023-PoWr, Chicago, 2023). In the last year he has dedicated himself to carry out a community diagnosis to know the needs of his community (high Mazatec) and to create bridges of support for the Mazatec indigenous people. This work has been supported by the Indigenous Medicine Conservation Fund (IMCF). Osiris García Cerqueda's path is guided by the memory of his ancestors, respect for the Mazatec tradition and the Mazatec deities.
